Endtown Skirmish Game

Endtown is a weird webcomic about post-apocalypse where people mutated into animals try to survive on beans as people clad in sealed suits hunt them. While I am sure an existing system could be used to make a game in this universe, I had a spark of inspiration how to do it myself.

The game would be for one or more players, each controlling a gang of mutants, while Topsiders would be AI controlled. The basic goal of the game would be to get as many beans as possible with as few losses as possible. So kinda like Frostgrave or Rangers of Shadow Deep, at least in premise.

Only the mutants get stats, any interaction with Topsiders and their MUTT drones would be based on those. Those would be Speed, Ballistics, Close Combat, Agility, Toughness and Wounds. The mutants start in Stealth and Topsiders can't see them in this state, but MUTTs can scan for mutants nearby. Agility is used to maintain Stealth and Dodge attacks. Toughness would take care of saving after being hit.

I considered three classes of mutant: small ones would be speedy but fragile, large ones would be robust and good in CC, but slow and difficult to hide and medium/unmutated would have the best ballistic skill (as weapons were made for human hands), but not the mutant toughness.

Topsider AI should be simple: MUTTs go in random directions, as indicated by the die and scan the area. Topsiders remain stationary or follow the MUTTs unless they notice something – then they go to fight the nearest known mutant. They would be glass cannons, their zapper guns very potent, but their suits fragile.

Campaign mode could be easily added on top of it. I am thinking d20 or d10 for rolls.

I may or may not return to this idea later. I already have another game in development. Of course, as a fan game, it would be completely free.
